Allure by Diana Vreeland
Fashion lovers everywhere will be thrilled to see Allure back in print. This classic volume on the "allure" of fashion and life was penned by iconic fashion maven Diana Vreeland during the 1980s. Her editor Jackie O. had encouraged her to write this beautiful book, and the new edition also features a foreword from Marc Jacobs.
As the former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Vreeland was famous for her witty sartorial observations. Within this book you'll see a vast, glamorous array of fashion, celebrity, and fine art photographs that were shot by superstars Man Ray, Sir Cecil Beaton, and Richard Avedon. For any fashion diva, this book will have a permanent spot within your chic library.
You'll see also fantastic images of Josephine Baker, Maria Callas, Brigitte Bardot, Mick Jagger, as well as models wearing designs from Balenciaga. Best of all, you'll also get to see how high society directly influenced fashion trends back in the day.
Marilyn Monroe is just so breathtaking in this image. Love this composition.
Sir Cecil Beaton's sister, Baba Beaton, was one of his early photography subjects. He took many photos of his family members before his career started flourishing.

Hi there, I found your blog via IFB and was so happy to read the news in your post! Thanks for sharing - I love the pic of Beaton's sister:)
Thanks for reading the post Desiree! Aren't these images just totally amazing? :)
I cannot wait to read this book—thank you for posting pictures from it! I love Diana Vreeland and, in fact, just wrote a post about Full Gallop, the play about her life. Has anyone seen it? I know it's run for years but never where I live.
So glad you enjoyed the pics! They're all divine. I've never seen the play before either...
