Tell Tale Preserve Company's October Society Bag

Yesterday, I received the monthly Society Bag from Tell Tale Preserve Company and it felt like a mini version of Christmas. The sweet goodies from pastry chef William Werner (Quince, Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay) arrived in a burlap sack, tied with a beautifully designed letterpress tag.

The contents inside would more than satisfy any major sweet tooth. October's bag included a miniature Salted Caramel-Nib Poundcake, Cocoa-Black Sesame Sablé, Espresso Caramels, Coconut Brown Sugar Shortbread Sablé, Mutsu Apple-Concord Grape Pâte de Fruit, and Fig-Chocolate and Sangria Jam.

I found myself eating the fig sangria jam straight from the jar. Spiked with Valrhona Tainori chocolate, it also went very well with the savory poundcake. The buttery caramels were so rich that I could've eaten half of each at a time. I loved everything but my personal faves were the chewy coconut shortbread (tinged with salt) and the delicate pâte de fruit (not too sweet - hurrah!).

I can't wait for Werner's patisserie to open this Winter. I'll be the first in line to buy those scrumptious coconut shortbread squares. Dangerous...totally dangerous for my waistline.

To order next month's Society Bag, go to telltalepreserveco.com.

What a fabulous treat! I'd be tempted to just snarf down every single thing in one sitting. :)

I actually managed to space it out over 2-3 days. Still have the jam though. It goes so well with cheese. Yummmm.
