NARS Fall 2012 Makeup

NARS never disappoints me with their fall makeup collections. For the 2012 season they offer traditional fall shades, yet all have an updated, modern twist. Whether you want crazy bold or understated elegance, the brand has a few items to covet.

1990s supermodel Kristen McMenamy for NARS 2012.

The limited edition High Society Trio Eyeshadow features shades of lavender, matte forest green and iridescent amethyst. While green and purple are common colors for fall, this combo is pretty special. The lavender has pink tones and the green is a smokier version of the ubiquitous shade. All three shades work harmoniously with one another and you can wear each of them alone. I don't always use all the colors in a compact but this one is well thought out. You do need a primer as it can fade more quickly than their other eyeshadows.

Channel your inner ice queen with the Vent Glacé Eyeshadow Duo. Two wearable shades, platinum and silver smoke, make it so easy to create a stunning fall look. I love the frosty finish of the platinum shade - it really stands out on my eyelids while the silver smoke is more subdued. They're easy to blend together and you can pair it with the versatile More Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil.

The Outlaw Blush is described as a soft rose with golden shimmer. The color is more of a deep pink, which makes for a highly pigmented shade. A couple of gentle dabs and I'm pretty good to go for a daytime look. It's not as blendable as their other shades so I suggest using a very light hand, then build up as needed. For those who don't like too much shimmer, you'll be pleased to see very little of it in this blush. It also holds up very well throughout the day. All in all, this is a winner for blush addicts.

I'm really lovin' the Autumn Leaves Sheer Lipstick. This warm, burnt red-orange has a subtle hint of gold shimmer. The semi-opaque finish is enough coverage but it's quite lightweight. I think it's flattering on most skin tones and it complements brilliantly with the Vent Glace Eyeshadow Duo or High Society Eyeshadow Trio.

Most ladies will adore the More Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil - it will be your go-to fall lip color. Like the Autumn Leaves Lipstick, this cognac brown (with a touch of orange) is universally flattering and shows up beautifully on my lips - absolutely perfect for a polished fall look.

The lip pencil color is especially pretty. Actually, I think it practically matches the shade of polish on my toes right now, too. LOL
