Kinnikinnick Gluten-Free Donuts

I have to hand it to Kinnikinnick. The Canadian food company makes a gluten-free donut that I actually enjoy. The crumb is moist, and it heats up really well. Just stick them in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds and you have a sweet warm donut that's all ready for snacking. Each of these will set you back 170-220 calories, which isn't too bad at all. They're also free of dairy, nuts, soy, artificial coloring and flavors.

I liked the Cinnamon Sugar Donuts the most, with the Vanilla Glaze running a close second. The Chocolate Dipped Donuts could definitely use a lot more cocoa flavor in the icing. The seasonal Pumpkin Spice Donuts are only available through the end of November.

They're now conveniently available at your local Whole Foods. Just so you have your expectations down, these are not like Krispy Kremes, but it's a great substitute if you can't eat any wheat flour, soy or dairy.

Available at Whole Foods Market nationwide and at kinnikinnick.com.

For editorial consideration, review samples were provided for this post.
