How to Pack the Perfect Beach Bag

As we move closer to summer, it's time to plan our trips to the beach. You don't need to bring tons of stuff, but you do need the basics. Keep the following essential items in mind and you'll have the bare confidence to look your best at the beach!

Hydrate: Staying hydrated is the most important thing when you're dealing with prolonged sun exposure. Bring lots and lots of water, preferably in stainless steel or reusable BPA-free plastic bottles.

Protect: A water-resistant, high-SPF sunscreen is crucial. For those with fair or sensitive skin, a wide-brimmed hat and a pair of sunglasses are lifesavers.

Wardrobe: A sarong or tunic makes a great cover up for your bikini and flip flops will protect your feet from the hot sand. A change of clothes and underwear will make things more comfortable if you're not heading home right after the beach outing.

Look good: With the hot sun melting everything in sight, keep it really simple with just lip gloss, bronzer and waterproof mascara. A comb and hair detangler will keep your hair neat and conditioned after a dip in the ocean.

Have fun: If you get bored easily, bring books, games, magazines, a journal, mp3 player, iPad, etc.

Clean up: Microfiber towels are a brilliant idea. They're super light and thin, saving you plenty of space. Wet wipes are also convenient for clean up while plastic bags are great for storing wet swimsuits and stashing trash items.
