Dior Golden Jungle Fall 2012 Makeup Collection
July 3, 2012 Taking a cue from the animal kingdom, Dior's new Golden Jungle makeup collection for fall 2012 is now on sale at Nordstrom. Comprised of neutral hues in the green, brown and gold families, these wearable shades will take you into the holiday season and beyond.
First up is the deluxe, limited edition Golden Jungle Palette in Golden Browns 002. The sleek heavyweight silver compact contains a trio of matte dark brown, satin cocoa and iridescent champagne eyeshadows to create an elegant bronze eye. To contrast the dramatic effect a sheer nude pink lip gloss accompanies the eyeshadows in a separate chamber.
The 5 Couleurs Couture Colour Eyeshadow Palette is available in Golden Savannah 774. Featuring shades of copper, brown and gold, I find the formula to be softer than the 5 Couleurs Designer palettes. This one is ideal for day or night and the colors blend well together.
The 5 Couleurs Designer All-In-One Artistry Palette in Khaki Design 308 contains a base color, three eyeshadows and a dark liner - pretty much a paint-by-numbers method for those who don't want to think too hard about their makeup routine. I prefer this one over the Golden Savannah simply because the khaki tones are more flattering on my skin. That said, this is a basic color harmony so if you already have something similar this might not be the right splurge.
I'm a huge fan of Dior lipsticks - their colors are just so wearable. For this season we get two new shades from the Dior Addict collection: Daring 962 and Wild 646. Daring is a semi-sheer wine with a hint of shine while Wild is a warm nutmeg. Both are very flattering on most skin tones and should be instant favorites.
For nail color, three limited edition shades are available: Amazonia 605 (khaki green), Bengale 615 (brown taupe), and Golden Light 207 (shimmering gold). The formula dries quickly and you definitely need two coats to get an opaque effect. In my experience, their polish lasts for a few days sans top coat. The Bengale shade is a Neiman Marcus exclusive.
