Beauty Essentials For Travel

Got travel plans? As you prep for your upcoming trip, here are some tips on what to bring for your beauty regimen. After all, you don't want to drag the entire bath and beauty collection with you!

Do not over pack. The most important rule is to travel lightly - most of us tend to lug way too much stuff. Instead, save some luggage space for shopping. Try to pack your beauty essentials into one or two medium-sized cosmetic bags.

Makeup: Keep it simple. Invest in multiple-purpose products that can be used as a blush, eye shadow, and lip color. Pack just enough makeup to create a couple of easy looks. Bring lipstick, gloss, eye liner, mascara, bronzer and a neutral eye shadow compact. Chances are, you won't need makeup brushes - just use your fingers. For mascara addicts, get a curling formula so you can leave the bulky lash curler at home.

A multi-tasking beauty balm or tinted moisturizer will eliminate the need for heavy foundation, but bring a good concealer if you need to cover up blemishes and scars. If traveling to a hot, humid climate, get a waterproof makeup primer. The last thing you need is to watch your makeup slide off your face!

Skin care: Again, simplicity is the key. Bring a reliable sunscreen, facial cleanser and a hydrating moisturizer. Moisturizers with plant oils (argan, jojoba, coconut) can soothe parched skin. A skin balm with nourishing nutrients like honey and olive oil can serve as an all-in-one lip balm, body lotion and hand cream. Breakouts can happen so definitely pack an anti-acne potion. If you have a favorite brand that you can't live without, see if they sell a travel kit, or pack your preferred skin care into small, leak proof travel bottles.

Hair care: Maintaining a low-key routine will ensure a stress-free trip. Your hotel will likely provide complimentary shampoo and conditioner, or you can buy them at the nearest pharmacy. Make room for a small folding hair brush and a must-have styling product (gel, mousse, serum). If you have unruly hair, bring a lightweight conditioning spray to tame the frizz.

Now that you have a streamlined beauty plan, you can travel with bare confidence. Share your favorite  beauty routines and enter the Style Your Spring Sweepstakes at www.beauty.philips.com.
