Anthropologie Lamp Shades

I've been on a decor kick the last several weeks. To brighten up our home I've been roaming around design boutiques and antique shops for the right pieces to jazz up our living space. I might not be able to afford a real antique armoire but I found that getting a new lamp shade adds so much to a room.

The colorful Needlework Garden Shade from Anthropologie is covered with embroidered zinnias and cosmos. This gorgeous thing will perk up any space that's lacking in color. The stitching looks durable and the vibrant shades are stunning.

Get a Flawless Face with Laura Mercier

As most of you beautyholics know, Laura Mercier is a coveted makeup line. As a teen I was always in awe of Laura. She made makeup application look so effortless and chic, and her artistry is just unbelievable.

I got to review a few of her popular products so I, too, could achieve that famous flawless complexion. I started with the Foundation Primer, a water-based buffer to hold the foundation in place. This is a great departure from the typical silicone formula so my skin didn't feel slippery. The thin gel texture also absorbed instantly - if you stick it in the fridge you'll get a cool, refreshing sensation.

Taiwan Film Days

I just love fall. It's the perfect season to head indoors and catch some great foreign flicks. The San Francisco Film Society is hosting a few small festivals for October and November, and the third annual Taiwan Film Days is starting this Friday evening.

 The three-day celebration will showcase eight new films from Taiwan's best and brightest film makers. Dark comedy "Formosa Mambo" will have its international premiere on opening night while "The Coming of Tulku" is a meditative documentary on 90-year-old poet Zhou Meng-Die.
