YSL Candy Face Spring 2012 Makeup
Bright candy pinks and bold purples ruled Candy Face, YSL's Spring Look 2012 makeup collection. Fresh and sweet, the playful color palette is celebrating spring with colorful abandon.
The star product of the season, the Vinyl Candy Palette is reminiscent of fancy rock candy. Hues of violet, raspberry and blackcurrant supply the inspiration for Lloyd Simmonds, YSL’s International Makeup Artist. I found that most of the colors are easy to use, except for the raspberry shade - it might be better as a powder blush.
Don't be fooled by the seemingly bright colors of the Ombres 5 Lumieres No. 13 eyeshadow palette. The shades are actually very shimmery and soft, lending a wash of romantic pastels. You can mix and blend to your heart's content with no trouble at all. In fact, they're so sheer you won't be able to over apply.
I love the new Voile de Blush, a sheer water-soluble gel blush. Available in three shades, the fresh and light tints are so natural looking on the cheeks - you really can't mess up the application. I prefer No. 3 Pink Veil, a light baby pink.
Berries, lilacs, pinks and tangerines are the main players for lip color. Whether you want it in a shimmery gloss, sheer balm or pearly lipstick, it's yours for the taking.
I'm in love with the hot pink Rouge Volupte Perle 114 Sparkling Fuchsia lipstick and the luscious Volupte Sheer Candy gloss balm in 7 Sweet Fig. For a sexy bright gloss definitely get Golden Gloss 49 Golden Violet. That shade is opaque enough to last a few hours.
