Vosges Haut-Chocolat Persia Collection

Vosges Haut-Chocolat's new Persia Collection is inspired by Jacqueline Topel, the winner of their Facebook Truffle Parfum Contest. The 41% milk chocolate ganache is scented with rose water and the exotic melange includes a dash of strawberry and meyer lemon gelée and pink peppercorns.

This is one of the more unique summer truffles I've seen thus far. I had expected tons of citrus to hit me right off the bat but instead the pink peppercorn dominated the entire experience. It's an unexpected and unusual pairing, but I personally preferred less peppercorn for the garnish.

Perhaps if there was one tiny piece for the garnish instead of two, it might have brought out more of the delicate strawberry and rose water notes. Nevertheless, it made me appreciate the creative ingredient combination - very much akin to having an intellectual muse igniting one's senses.

Available for a very limited time (9 pieces, $26) at www.vosgeschocolate.com.

Those are some beautiful chocolates. And that unusual combo of flavors definitely puts you in an exotic frame of mind.

The brand makes gorgeous confections, that's for sure. I loved the combo, just needed to cut back on the peppercorns a wee bit.
