Spa Week Deals: $50 Treatments at Tre Balm

My dry skin needed a major tune-up so I decided to try the 50-Minute Microdermabrasion Facial. Designed to address acne, scarring, sun damage and fine lines, this highly effective facial brings a new layer of skin to the surface. Co-owner Sarah Ambrosek performed my treatment and I definitely felt like I was in expert hands.

Sarah started off with a thorough cleansing, then applied a layer of Jan Marini Skin Zyme to exfoliate my skin. As the enzymes were working its magic, she gave a relaxing arm massage - heavenly! Extractions soon followed. If you've never had microdermabrasion before, you might not be used to the sensation. Two diamond-tipped wands (in varying roughness) are used to slough off dead skin cells, resulting in a refined and resurfaced skin texture. The sensation is described as mildly abrasive - like sandpaper - but it's not painful. As Sarah gave a shoulder massage, a cooling mask is used to calm my face. To complete the treatment a serum/lotion duo from Phytomer was used to nourish my new skin.

My sunspots and fine lines were noticeably diminished and my complexion revealed a phenomenal radiance. I couldn't believe how gorgeous my skin looked - there was no sign of irritation whatsoever. For those with serious skin issues, a series of six or more sessions is recommended.
