Personal Microderm
December 15, 2010 Most of us can't always splurge on expensive medi-spa visits to maintain our youthful complexion. Even if we can we don't always have time to go to the actual appointment. Thankfully Age Sciences developed the Personal Microderm, an at-home microdermabrasion system that you can use anytime, anywhere.
I've always been a bit skeptical about these types of skin care products, but this one is effective and easy to use. The microdermal exfoliation tool contains the same professional grade aluminum oxide crystal discs as the ones used by a medi-spa.
It doesn't hurt at all as it produces a gentle vacuum suction as you run the wand against your face. The crystal exfoliating discs resurface the stratum corneum, eliminating layers of dead skin cells. Within weeks expression lines are smoothed out and skin discoloration is improved. Pores become smaller and in some cases acne scars are reduced.
I tried this for a few weeks and I can already see noticeable results. My skin is a lot smoother, softer and more luminous. It's as if I went to the spa for a real microdermabrasion treatment. The kit comes with two kinds of aluminum crystal discs (blue for gentle exfoliation, green for stronger resurfacing). If you have sensitive skin start with the blue disc first. I'll move on to the green discs soon as they are a tad bit too gentle on me.
The Personal Microderm costs $179. It's a fraction of what you'd pay at the spa - a typical microdermabrasion session costs around $150.00 and you often need multiple appointments to get the results you need.
