NARS Summer 2011 Makeup Collection
April 20, 2011 The NARS summer 2011 makeup collection is a melange of bold and shimmery aquatic colors. If you love blues and greens, this collection was conceptualized with you in mind.
Named after a French Alpes-Maritimes town, the Cap Ferrat Trio Eyeshadow is a cool, sexy dip in the ocean. The first two shades, icy sea foam and silver green, are delicate washes of color. They easily blend together for any summer look. The bright and icy turquoise is the perfect pop of color for lining the eyes. This trio palette will last you all summer with its multiple color combinations. Unlike the previous eyeshadow trios, this compact had changed so that each color sits inside its own pan.
The tropical theme continues with the sparkly Queen Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. Tiny bits of citrus gold glitter are suspended in a transparent base. It's a very pretty and surprisingly subtle look. The texture sorta reminds me of Night Snow eyeshadow. It rubs off easily if you wear it alone so you will need a good primer. You can also use it as a liner, highlighter, or under a complementary eyeshadow.
I adore the Dogon Duo Eyeshadow. This is a must-have for this season's smoky lid. The metallic taupe has a light icy green sheen, and when you combine it with the charcoal black it turns into a beautiful, iridescent pewter green. I love it when seemingly neutral colors can transform themselves into such gorgeous results. It's totally unexpected and delightful.
For the cheeks, the New Order Highlighting Blush is a soft lavender pink with gold and silver shimmer. It gives off a barely-there wash of color, so it's great for highlights cheekbones. You can also use it over other cheek colors for an extra dimension.
To complement a bold eye, the Mayflower Lipstick is a sheer raspberry that almost matched my natural lip color. The subtle color comes with a shimmering finish, which is really pretty by itself or with a darker lipliner.

Wow, talk about vivid eye shadow colors. Those hues would be beautiful for clothes. I dunno if I could apply them quite so intensely on my lids as that model, though. LOL
Carolyn, the model is actually wearing other product shades on top of the summer items. The actual trio is not as bold, but it can be layered for a more dramatic effect. I don't think I can wear those shades on the model either! ;)
