NARS Fall 2011 Makeup
Once again, NARS created a stunning and modern makeup collection for fall 2011. Whether you like it neutral or super bold, there really is something for everyone. Italian model Mariacarla Boscono is the perfect face for this campaign, don't you agree?
We have a winner with the Delphes Trio Eyeshadow. At first glance it seemed it might suit gals with cool tones but it's just as lovely with warmer tones. When the frosty sage green is blended with the matte dove gray it produces a beautifully smoky metallic finish. The sparkles from the sparkly sheer peach tend to fall on the cheeks, so be careful when you apply it. You can use the gray and peach for a pretty day look, then switch it up by packing on the sage for a hot date at night. There is no rule on how to use this, and it blends together very, very well.
The new Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner sticks onto you like glue. It's supposed to stay on for 12 hours but I haven't tested it for that long. Formulated as a mechanical eyeliner pencil, it goes on super silky smooth, but once it's on, it will stay put. It won't budge, cake nor smear. I adore Rue de Rivoli (metallic forest green) and Bourbon Street (festive purple).
If you want a really stunning color for fall, make it the Outremer Matte Eyeshadow. When I first saw it I was pretty worried I wouldn't be able to carry it off. Upon closer inspection I found that you can layer on a sheer layer, which then becomes a gorgeous cobalt blue. This color will work well as a liner and as a smoky eye.
I am in love with the Grand Palais Duo Eyeshadow. Worn alone, the silvery taupe and dusky rose didn't seem like it'd work on me but once I blended them together, I got an amazing sparkly mauve finish. You can also pair the taupe color with the Outremer eyeshadow for fab results, and the rose color can double as a blush.
As for the lips, the Pago Pago lipstick has a very subtle silver sparkle built into the formula. A couple of swipes and your neutral lips can go with any dramatic eye. Love!
Wild mango butter and acai oil keep the Pure Matte Lipstick from drying my lips. There are 2 new shades for the collection - Mascate, a true red, and Montego Bay, a delicate rose pink. Montego Bay is fantastic for balancing out the dark eyeshadows.
Definitely consider the Oasis sparkling pink champagne lip gloss to complement a bold eye. This limited edition gloss has a barely-there shimmer so it's perfectly subtle yet remains adorably sexy. I love using this with the Outremer eyeshadow. The non-tacky formula makes it all the better for easy-peasy application.

And that cobalt blue is gorgeous, though, yes, I can see why it might be intimidating to wear.
I love the blue, but you have to be really careful and not layer on too much.
