Kevyn Aucoin - The Loose Shimmer Shadow & The Lipgloss
August 28, 2012 Like most beauty addicts, I have been in love with Kevyn Aucoin's otherworldly makeup talent for as long as I could remember. I had his makeup books and was enthralled with his transformative techniques. When I found out that his makeup company released The Loose Shimmer Shadow, I had to try it out.
Loose Shimmer Shadow in Jade.The roller-ball applicator makes it very easy to dispense the product, especially if you're on the go and aren't carrying any makeup brushes. I roll it on my hand to get a super light application but you can roll it directly on the eyelid for a more dramatic finish. There is no fallout. Available in six luminous colors, I prefer the pearlescent Jade (light silvery green). It's shimmery but it can be subtle enough for daytime looks. The pale gold Citrine shade is perfect for layering with the other five shades.
Shimmer Shadow in Rose Quartz.Another release, The Lipgloss, will be my new year-round favorite. The applicator brush resembles a pinky finger - it was Aucoin's favorite way to apply lip gloss on his clients. I love this brush - it deposits the perfect amount of gloss on my lips and the opaque coverage is lightweight. I tried on Nyalia, a rose creme, and loved it. Hydraa, a raspberry shimmer, is so darn sexy. It's fabulous for date night!
