How to Prep Your Skin for a Pool Party

Believe it or not, one must take a few steps to prepare for a summer pool party. You don't want to end up with unsightly dry skin or bumpy, hairy legs! Follow our regimen below to achieve a smooth, silky body and you'll have the bare confidence to rock that sexy bikini.

Exfoliate: Buffing your entire body is the first step in looking your best. Use a loofah, exfoliating gloves, or an Ultrasonic brush to slough off the dead skin cells. Pay special attention to feet, elbows, and legs. A body brush is an excellent way to stimulate circulation, remove toxins and reduce cellulite. Remember to do a facial peel or scrub at least one week before the event.

Hair Removal: Whether you use lasers, razors, tweezers, waxing or epilation, body hair removal is the key to looking like a water goddess. Schedule your wax appointments with your favorite esthetician, or be sure to epilate 1-2 days in advance.

Moisturize: It's important to keep your skin adequately hydrated. Choose a body moisturizer that contains AHAs to exfoliate your body or use a nourishing plant oil (argan, coconut, jojoba) to seal in the moisture.

Nails: Yes ladies, it's imperative to get a pedicure. You can skip the manicure or use clear nail polish for the fingernails but you gotta primp your pretty feet.

Bronze: If you want to transform into a bronze beauty ahead of time, a reliable tanning spray or bronzing cream should do the trick. Do a test run a couple of weeks out to avoid any possible issues such as streaking, orange coloring, or uneven areas.

Protect: Above all, slather tons of sunscreen throughout the day to avoid sun damage. Reapply every 2-3 hours and use a water-resistant formula with SPF 30 or higher. To prevent split ends you should also apply hair oil or a protectant spray with an SPF 15 at the minimum.
