Glam Beauty Board: Winter 2012 Product Trends

The Glam Beauty Board is back for the winter 2012 edition! As a panel member I get to review a selection of beauty products each season, and this time we have lots of new things to try.

The Too Faced Glamour To Go Spun Sugar Edition has all the makeup you need for any travel itinerary. It comes with 8 eyeshadows (shimmer and matte), a light bronzer, a pale pink blush, and a frosty pink lipgloss. Whether you want a neutral, smoky, or a shimmery holiday look, this will let you create several options.

I love the Susan Posnick Color Essential Moisturizing Lipsticks. The two semi-sheer shades, London (wine with gold shimmer) and Santa Fe (copper bronze), are gorgeous for most skin tones and they're just perfect for the season. The magnetic tube keeps the cover in place so you don't have to worry about it coming apart and rolling around your purse.

Great for sensitive skin, the Goldfaden MD Pure Start Gentle Detoxifying Facial Cleanser is very kind to my dry visage. It does a great job washing off makeup, yet it's still gentle enough to keep my face soft. It's also free of mineral oil and alcohol, so no yucky and abrasive stuff.

The Philosophy Full of Promise Dual-Action Restoring Cream for Volume and Lift is a rich day and night cream that gives a mini facelift. Packed with shea butter, peptides and plant extracts, this one also smooths out fine lines. I felt a little firming action whenever I apply it. 82% of users see more defined cheekbones after 4 weeks.

For an instant pick-me-up the Vichy Laboratoires ProEven Daily Dark Spot Corrector gives an instant glow. Micro-pearl pigments add a luminous finish, as if I had a full night's sleep. Vitamin C, Ceramide Bright and LHA come together to even out skin tone and dark spots.

The Buxom Waterproof Lash Mascara has a flexible applicator brush. It separates and defines the lashes without clumping and the waterproof formula washes off pretty easily. I needed 2-3 coats to build volume, but even then it looks pretty natural.

The Almay Smart Shade Mousse Makeup is a light to medium coverage foundation that automatically matches your own skin color. I was pretty skeptical at first when I saw the silvery white mousse, but when I smoothed it on it did match my skin pretty accurately. I'm a convert!

The Almay Intense i-Color Liquid Shadow + Color Primer can be worn alone, but I find the shade 054 (for green eyes) is better as a shadow base. It worked wonderfully with their Intense i-Color Bold Nudes trio palette. The results are natural without being boring and you can totally take it day to night.

For the cheeks, the Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker blush is highly pigmented. This compact will last a very long time. The coolest thing is the formula will match your skin tone within a minute. It looked pretty bright at first but when I put it on the color lightened up to flatter my complexion. It also comes with a deluxe brush, which makes application a cinch when you're running around town. It even comes with a built-in light so you can use it in the dark!

If you like clean floral scents, the Philosophy Living Grace Perfume contains notes of neroli, lily of the valley and warm musk. Spritz it around your home and this bright scent will lift you out of the winter doldrums.

The Burt's Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream kept my hands soft for many hours. The rich formula does take a few minutes for it to sink in, but it's worth it. It's loaded with baobab oil, fruit extracts, and lots of other plant oils to keep your hands pretty.

My hair tends to break more often during the winter, so the Umberto Beverly Hills Repair Treatment Masque will come in handy. It's not too damaged right now, so I just leave it on for 5 minutes. For a deep conditioning you can leave it on for 15-20.

For party-ready nails, the China Glaze nail lacquer has built-in nail hardeners to keep your nails strong. I got With Love, a holiday red, and Pizzazz, a clear rainbow glitter. I love to layer on the fun glittery polish on top of the red for an extra festive effect.
