Dior Grand Bal Holiday 2012 Makeup
Inspired by Christian Dior's love for entertaining, the Grand Bal holiday 2012 collection promises to seduce and enchant everyone. Not surprisingly, you'll see lots of shimmery golds, browns, and bronze for the eyes, and classic reds for the lips.
They offer many palettes this season and I got to try the 5-Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes. The Night Golds 524 is sooo easy to use. A warm melange of metallic and shimmery gold, bronze and brown, these gorgeous shades are very blendable and a joy to work with. There is very little fallout with the gold flecks, so that's always a win. The 764 Fairy Golds is more subdued with mauve, beige and champagne, but it's just as pretty. This one I'd use more for daytime, but it still has enough glitter to add lots of holiday pizzazz.
Dior lipsticks are usually excellent and their Diorific Long-Wearing True Color Lipstick is no exception. Wow, what beautiful reds to choose from! Pick from 37 Diorling (cherry red with blue undertones), 38 Diva (warm orange red), 39 Lady (light coral-red), and 40 Marilyn (berry red). I love 39 Lady to bits - it's basically a lighter version of 38 Diva. The formula is weightless and the high pigments wear for many hours.
I especially love the limited edition Dior Addict lip glosses. Two shades are available: 774 Ceremony Red and 424 Lamé Gold. Ceremony Red, a wearable medium red with slight gold shimmer, is surprisingly pigmented for a sheer formula - you can definitely layer it with a touch of Lamé Gold for a subtle iridescent finish. The non-sticky feel makes this combo a popular holiday look.
For nail polish addicts, the Diorific Vernis in 901 Diva is a deep black with multi-colored shimmery flecks. The brush is a bit tricky to use but with such an elegant bottle you'll make the effort. I recommend 2 coats to get full coverage. The 751 Marilyn is a classic Hollywood red with a thinner finish, but it's not too thin.
