Americano's Pasta del Giorno Menu
Carb lovers, prepare to feast upon the new Pasta del Giorno menu at Americano Restaurant. Featuring California-grown whole grains, Executive Chef Kory Stewart has designed a daily selection of bronze extruded and handmade pastas for lunch and dinner.
Naturally, we had to start with one of their popular pizzas. The Pizza di Stagione is topped with green garlic, nettles, house made mozzarella burrata and mint. The mint gave a refreshing contrast to the rich burrata.
The Red Winter Durum Garganelli with house made sausage, Manilla clams and pesto was easily the favorite of the four pastas offered.
The Spaghetti alla Carbonara with smoked bacon, porcini mushrooms and padron peppers was perfectly al dente. Rich but not heavy, this dish was big enough to share.
Chef Stewart also had an impressive dessert menu. My buddy Carolyn of Food Gal had raved about his Candy Cap Mushroom Ice Cream Sandwich a while back so we had to try it. Sandwiched between two large butterscotch pecan cookies, the infused ice cream had strong, earthy notes of maple syrup. The brown sugar caramel was also excellent.
Their churros were some of the best we've had. The thin, delicately crunchy exterior gave way to a warm, flan-like interior. Heavenly.
If you're a chocolate fiend like I am, you'll adore the sinful Bittersweet Chocolate Budino with salted caramel, toffee and whipped crème fraiche.
