479 Popcorn
I love gourmet popcorn, but 479 Popcorn really takes it to the next level. Based in SF, founder Jean Arnold makes these lovely organic snacks in small batches to ensure absolute freshness. Named after the perfect popping temperature, this line is after flavor precision.
For spice lovers, The Globetrotter sampler is a treasure trove of taste bud tinglers. Each flavor is well balanced between sweet and savory, tinged with a warm spice. Both Chipotle Caramel + Almonds and Madras Coconut Curry + Cashew create a lazy warmth that's perfect for cozy movies nights. The Ginger Sesame Caramel has a fragrant aroma, and Pimenton de La Vera has the strongest kick of the bunch.
Purists can lust after the Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt, or the Vietnamese Cinnamon Sugar. I happen to like bold flavors so I'm sticking to The Globetrotter.
The packaging is quite beautiful. Each box has a different colorful pattern and a sassy quote on the side. I got a kick out of the one from the Black Truffle + Aged White Cheddar box: "Somewhere far far away, an Italian nonna is urging you to eat the whole box." And I sure did eat away, bit by bit.
I also dig the green biz practices of Arnold's venture. She only sources ingredients from local producers that practice sustainable farming, and composts everything.
