I was in search of an enzyme face peel that isn't irritating and eventually discovered Suki's Renewal Bio-Resurfacing Facial Peel. As one of the rare companies that use 100% natural ingredients, I was happy to see that this product has a potent efficacy. It contains cranberry glycolic acid, along with an advanced botanical enzyme complex of pumpkin, apple and papain. White willow bark is also added to exfoliate the skin.

After I had applied a thin layer, I felt a slight tingling on the cheeks but I didn't see any redness after I had washed it off. My entire face was noticeably brighter, which is amazing to see after just one application. It looked so radiant that I didn't need to add my usual night serums. You can also use this as an overnight spot treatment for blemishes.

If you do need a brightening product, they have a Targeted Bio-Brightening Face Serum. Arbutin, songyi mushroom and licorice root are the key ingredients that will lighten the skin. This is certainly a safer alternative than using chemical lighteners. This concentrated product is also suitable for folks with rosacea.

I also tried their Tinted Active Moisturizer SPF 15. I was worried that the shade was too dark for me (at least in the bottle) but the sheer texture blended right into the skin. This is not your typical tinted moisturizer. It contains lots of good-for-you nutrients (pure minerals, organic jojoba, organic rose extract) and it doesn't look chalky. Derived from white willow, the natural salicyclic acid will help reduce inflammation and prevent new breakouts.

Marie-Veronique Organics has one of the gentlest organic facial cleansers I've tried. Although it contains 1% lactic acid to promote exfoliation, the Jade Gentle Cleanser is non-foaming and doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils. The anti-inflammatory properties of hydrolyzed jade ensures that this cleanser is usable for the most sensitive skin.

I don't usually like most tinted moisturizers, but their Creme de Soleil Tinted SPF 30 has a really matte texture and didn't leave any greasy residue whatsoever. The tint also blended right into the skin, so I didn't have to worry about having extra color on my face. This sunscreen contains the healing emu oil and the regenerative helichrysum essential oil.

I also like that they don't use any waxes in their natural skin care line. Apparently they cause the little bumps on your skin, clogging up the pores. This local company is also against using nanoparticles, parabens, fillers, and fragrances.

While this is not the cheapest 'green' skin care, it's far more affordable than many luxury department store brands. I recommend getting their Anti-Aging Travel Kit to see if your skin will agree to their formulas. Their face oils (Overture and Nocturne) are jam-packed with nourishing nutrients like krill, broccoli seed, cherry kernel, black raspberry seed, and kiwi seed oils.

I think I found the next best thing to having regular facials. Not that I'm against being pampered on a monthly basis, but when you have a not-so-stellar beauty budget like I do, you might want to invest in the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System.

It does cost as much as a facial treatment at a fancy spa, but this amazing cleansing device does wonders for your skin, and it'll last way longer than a month. All you need is a good cleanser and the Mia, and your skin will soon be as soft as buttah. You'll be glowing like an English rose within one usage, and that's not an exaggeration. Even if you're a die-hard spa girl, an aesthetician had mentioned that a Clarisonic brush will maintain facial results between visits.

The gentle cleansing brush moves at 300 movements per second, delivering a super deep cleaning. The soft brush doesn't irritate at all - in fact, it's a nice stimulating massage for the face. My pores felt less clogged and the skin tone was greatly improved.

It also has a self-timer, so it turns itself off after a minute. Another great thing about this model is that it's smaller and lighter than the classic model, so it's ideal for travel and it's also waterproof (great for the shower!).

I thought I've seen it all with the latest skin care trends, but the gorgeous SenSpa had something truly unique to offer in terms of skin exfoliation and renewal. Giorgio Armani Beauty's fall collection is all about the softer smoky eye, and their new Manta Ray Eye Duo palettes offer an array of colors to fit every style. As usual, these colors were inspired by the materials used in Giorgio Armani fashion accessories. Because they're less intense, these are also timeless shades that you can carry into springtime looks. I really liked the n° 3 palette, a romantic lilac grey and light fuchsia.

For the lips, the Armani Silk Lipstick n°92 keeps the focus right on the dramatic eyes. The grey-blue tones in this soft plum lipstick add intensity to the lip without giving a jarring contrast.

If you have sensitive skin and you're looking for something that doesn't irritate your poor face, CosMedix should fill the bill. Because the plant-based ingredients have been filtered to contain only molecules that positively interact with the skin, the chirally correct skin care is one of the more effective products on the market (up to four times more concentrated than other brands).

Nobody does fragrances like Diptyque. I've been in love with their candles and home sprays for many years and it was so nice to see the launch of their new Art of Body Care line. Inspired by journeys to Aleppo, Byzantium, Alexandria, Cordoba, and Florence, your senses are taken on a whirlwind trip around ancient civilizations.

The collection consists of five luxurious products to pamper the entire body. I love all of them, but my favorite has to be the intense soufflé-textured Crème Riche (with Turkish rose, organic honey, argan oil), followed by the Precious Oils (organic sweet almond oil, argan oil, and macadamia oil). It's a dry body oil that absorbs almost instantly, with notes of iris, cedar and vetiver lingering on the skin.

The rest of the line is just as decadent. The Gelée Lactée creamy body wash is a concentrated olive oil formula peppered with notes of bay laurel, rosemary and lemon. The Lait Frais (fresh lotion) is very uplifting with its green notes of petitgrain and orange blossom. The velvety Baume Généreaux (hand balm) is filled with apricot kernel oil, shea butter and argan oil.

Diptyque also just introduced L’Eau de Tarocco, the new unisex cologne. The fruitiest fragrance of Diptyque’s cologne collection, this one has notes of blood orange, grapefruit, saffron, Bulgarian rose, cedar wood and white musk. If you haven't tried any of their fragrances, this one is a great one to start with.

For the jet-setters, the new travel collection features mini candles, body washes, and body lotions in your favorite scents. Giorgio Armani's new Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF 20 is a great alternative to thick TV or photography makeup (ideal for bridal pics!). The pump dispenser bottle is so well made. Just squirt out one nickel-sized dollop into your palm and spread across your face. The feel is light and smooth, and is an all-purpose formula. You get sunscreen and medium coverage for both special days or for everyday wear. This is a new water-based formula that lasts 14-hours.

The Crema Nera Eye Compact has the Obsidian Mineral Complex (key ingredients silicium, sodium, iron and potassium) that is crucial to cell regeneration. The concentrated cream absorbs so nicely into the delicate eye area. I didn't even have to dab at it too much before it disappeared into the skin. Fine lines are plumped up, and you get an instant radiant glow. I even use it on my lips to freshen up before meetings. It also has a built-in mirror that swings out for on-the-go touch ups! The matching Crema Nera Obsidian Mineral Restoring Serum is used for fighting deep wrinkles and severely dry skin. I like the clean scent - not too heavily perfumed. The length and depth of wrinkles are reduced while providing plenty of nourishing moisture.

Givenchy's new Peel Me Perfectly is a neat triple action scrub. It acts like a cleanser, exfoliator, and mask, all at the same time. Oarweed extract and glycolic acid aid in skin renewal, and a clay extract helps purify the pores. This is a fun scrub to use. Apply a generous amount and massage over the face with gentle circular movements.

I also tried the Radically No Surgetics Complete Age-Defying Care day cream. The texture is so light and fluffy, not heavy at all. I usually opt for a fluid emulsion texture for daytime, but this one is going straight to my bathroom shelf for daily use now!

This treatment cream is especially formulated for multiple signs of aging (wrinkles, slackening, dullness, etc.). It's packaged in such a pretty eye-catching metallic violet container. My skin is considered to be normal, but when I'm having an off day (no sleep or sun damage) it can change my skin chemistry for a while. Once irritated, the daily regimen products I use might be too much to handle and I'm left wondering what I should use to remedy my crabby skin.

Edgy shu uemura never fails to impress me. The new Pink Collection is yet another fine example. I'm not a pink kinda gal, yet the Gloss Unlimited in PK 378S (Hot Pink Sparkle) charmed my socks off. This collection uses patented Pink Hybrid Pigment technology, ensuring the pure, authentic pink hues.

Ditto for the Rouge Unlimited in PK359 Sheer Electric Pink. These colors are really beautiful. Conventional pinks were traditionally created mixing red and white shades, but the shu uemura team came up with a matrix of a mineral core and organic shell. This means the colors are brighter, providing high color fidelity. You just have to try it to see the difference. They are not garish and will work on all skin tones.

I paired both of these lip colors with the new Cream Eye Shadow in P Light Green. It was the perfect and easy Spring look for me. These cream shadows come in 9 non-creasing/non-fading and buildable shades (matte and pearl), and they're waterproof for summer! Yay. You can wear alone or layer with their pressed eye shadows.

In their skin care department, the new White Recovery EX Instant Spot Brightener does double duty as both makeup highlighter and well, spot brightener. You can get instant dewy skin by dabbing a bit on the nose bridge and cheekbones. Use it alone or over makeup (blend gently). Reducing melanin content by 56% (thank you Sakura Leaf and Prune extracts), this has optical brightening effects and will minimize the appearance of brown spots and acne scars immediately and over time. The convenient brush applicator makes it easy to dab it right you need it. This can last 2-3 months, as a little goes a long way. You can even use it for dark circles!

Every day should be Earth Day, and Juice Beauty is one of the natural skin care leaders to promote this idea. Their line of organic body and skin care has always been made without the laundry list of the usual chemicals (no parabens, propylene/butylene glycols, petroleum, sulphates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, phthalates, GMO, silicones, pesticides, etc.). I'm happy to learn about their new USDA Certified Organic collection. This earned a spot inside my daily makeup bag.

The Organic Facial Wash is also an instant fave. Grape and apple juices, sunflower oil, essential fatty acids, and honey maintain optimum moisture levels while helichrysum and carrot seed remove impurities. I like the non-drying texture. It almost feels like a 2-in-1 cleanser and moisturizer.

The Organic Facial Moisture Concentrate is pretty potent, so start with a few tiny drops and work it in. This concentrated hydrator will send a boost of antioxidant-rich cranberry seed and grapeseed oils, sunflower, and jojoba. It's also packed with carrot seed, geranium, and helichrysum. Try not to pump out too much lest you waste the precious product.

I'm always harping about SPF protection, so here's another way to protect your precious dermal layer. I like to slap it on my arms and legs before my workouts. This is great stuff. Between the drying heaters and winter cold, my skin is rather knocked up lately. Luckily I don't need to deal with crocodile skin, thanks to the new Biotherm products. The Aquasource Super Hydrating Fluid came to the rescue with its concentrated hydration from thermal spring water and 70 mineral salts. I imagine it'd be perfect for long-distance flights. Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 Pink Light collection has a limited edition eye shadow palette that will create luminous and fresh eyes. Embossed with Mr. Armani’s signature, the palette includes a shimmering silver, light lilac, light rose, and light beige for that rosy look.

The new Light Master Make-up Primer does wonders for highlighting the skin. Optical effects are created from Micro-fil™ pearl, which changes skin tone (depending on light reflection). This will illuminate and shape cheekbones and contours of the face while toning down uneven zones. It's very light (like their face fabrics) and I sure glowed like a radiant flower after a light application. You don't need a lot at all, just a light pump will do. Greek skin company Korres has a long history (based on first homeopathic pharmacy in Athens), and I've been meaning to try something from this line forever. The Basil Lemon Showergel is so invigorating! Makes showering more fun. It definitely stimulates the senses, but not too much. I like the green note of basil playing with the zesty lemon. Not to worry - it's devoid of silicone, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and parabens.

The Guava Body Butter is a good one for those who like the tropical mood. The tangy scent cheered me up on a blah rainy day, and it works great on dry skin. It's not greasy either, which is always a plus...

Sick of the drying shaving creams from the local drugstore? I recently tried the Whish Shave Crave shaving cream in Lemongrass, and I'm a convert. It's really thick and creamy, resulting a nice close shave. It smells great too. What's really appealing for me is that the company uses more organic ingredients, such as organic jojoba seed oil, green tea, coconut oil, shea butter, and lemongrass.

The Kenwood Inn & Spa made me feel like I was living in a Tuscan villa. Well, it's the closest thing in the Bay Area/Wine Country. I was very lucky to have the chance to spend a weekend in this tranquil paradise, and the luxe accommodations are worth every penny.

There are plenty of reasons why they've been recently named the top resort in the US by Condé Nast Traveler. Each of the 29 rooms and suites have private entrances, and the secluded 2.5 acres are so beautifully landscaped. Each nook and cranny was abundantly draped in ivy, plants, and flowers. The courtyards, pool, gardens, jacuzzis were gorgeous.

I could have stayed inside my suite all day, and that's what I did (It was cold and raining anyway). It was so big I can waltz around the entire room. Mine had a jacuzzi tub, fireplace (a real one!), and the most comfy featherbed on earth. I couldn't seem to get up in the morning from the deep slumber.

The gracious staff really went above and beyond, catering to my every need. The private restaurant is only open to guests, where Italian chef Renzo Veronese spoils you with fresh house-made pasta and other delectable entrees. I totally loved my Ravioli di Vitello alla Aurora (roasted veal in tomato cream sauce). The Sogliola alla Dorata (Petrale sole with lemon, white wine, and butter) was also really delicious. It was the best Petrale I've had in recent memory.

Don't forget to book a spa treatment when you visit. The award-winning spa offers luxurious body facials that feature Arcona, the LA-based skin care line used by celebrities (Diane Lane, Katherine Heigl, etc.). I tried the awesome Organic Enzyme facial, and my face looked so much better when I was done. The fruit enzymes totally buffed off the dull visage.

All in all, this is the ultimate romantic getaway. A definite must-go for you and your sweetheart on your next anniversary, honeymoon, or special occasion.

I've written about Juice Beauty a while back, when the company first launched, but now I got to try other items that escaped my notice. Giorgio Armani Beauty has some awesome fall items, and here are a few highlights:

The SK-II legend of the Pitera essence is known far and wide (discovered by a Japanese scientist during a visit to a sake brewery), but I didn't get to learn more about the magical ingredient until recently. The following superstar products are examples of this great skin care line:

After cleansing with the Facial Treatment Cleansing Gel (nice makeup remover, btw), apply the Facial Treatment Mask for about 10-15 minutes. It's an intense moisture treatment that's perfect for long flights or dry weather. The mask drenches the skin with the special Pitera vitamins and organic acids, resulting in a replenished and dewy visage. For real dry skin you can soak the mask pack in hot water for 10 minutes, then take it out and apply as normal.

Another popular product, the Facial Treatment Essence, is called the 'holy water' from skin care fans. Containing the highest amount of Pitera of all the SK-II products (over 90%), it absorbs easily and your skin will end up looking radiant, with a supple, smooth feel. The alcohol-free formula is nice, rebalancing the skin's renewal cycle. Skin texture is improved and cellular turnover is increased.

Brought to you by my dear friend Stevie, the fashionista behind the fab blog LA-Story. Stella from Well Above Average (another fabulous blog BTW, so go read it!!) got us hooked into this game - she challenged us with the Ten Questions Game, and as a result I got tagged in the process.

So...here goes!

1. I can be a food freak. I've backpacked in Europe in search of some obscure brand of condiments...I've also convinced a friend to drive 2 hours each way to a fancy orchard to pick heirloom-variety pluots and nectarines. Yeah, I'm a bit of a zealot.

2. I like chicken feet and fish heads. Yum. I also like expensive gourmet chocolates.

3. I own more bottles of beauty potions and makeup (I have 20+ pairs of fake lashes!) than any normal gal in her right mind should have.

4. While most girls swoon over labels like Malandrino, Dior, or Chanel, I prefer the delicate macarons from the famed patisserie Dalloyau or the loveliest ice cream from Berthillon in Paris.

5. Most of my tiny kitchen space is dedicated to precious baking supplies and equipment. You can never have too many cake pans, flavored syrups, colored gels, cookie molds, flours, extracts, or cookbooks.

6. I check out the dessert menu and make my selection before ordering my entree.

7. I own 8 pairs of Camper shoes. They're so comfy and CUTE - can you blame me?

8. I usually tear up when I watch a particular scene from "In the Mood for Love" by Wong Kar Wai. It's such a beautifully made film, from the music to the cinematography to the clothes.

9. I'm a dancing fiend. Salsa, swing, Argentine tango, cha-cha, waltz, polka, you name it, I'll try it.

10. I've been to 16 countries and 116 cities.

Much like Alice in “skin care wonderland”, “the boscia bottle seemed to say "USE ME! You don’t want me to expire!” The idea of an expiration date on my skincare product was daunting at first. Then, it became a reassuring reinforcement of just how fresh the boscia skincare line is: free of preservatives; made with botanicals. It truly aids in maintenance of your skin’s natural beauty.

Created by Fancl Corporation, boscia’s focus on simplicity and freshness is executed through the use of two main ingredients: organically grown jojoba leaf that fights free radical damage and willow-herb, an anti-inflammatory to soothe and calm skin troubled by harsh chemicals, stress and other irritants.

For those with oily skin (like me!), a definite “must” includes the Purifying Cleansing Gel. Within two weeks of using this soap-free makeup remover and cleanser, my face seemed lighter and more even in tone. Further enhancing this effect was the Balancing Facial Tonic.
