Annette Shapewear

If you've been way naughty with your diet and exercise (goodbye New Year's resolutions), Annette Shapewear has the tools to tone up your body.

I especially liked the High Back Bodyshaper with Legs from their Secret Weapons line. The seamless high back design will smooth out that extra back flesh. It's also designed to be worn with your favorite bra - the side panels will push your cleavage up to enhance the silhouette (without having to buy a special push-up bra). There's no buckling so your torso doesn't have that icky bumpy look. The molded seat panels really do lift up your butt. You don't even have to suck in your tummy. I wore this under a thin cotton dress and it worked out nicely.

annette_shapewear.png

If you're a thong girl there's a bodyshaper with a thong back so you can avoid panty lines. This one has a built in wire bra with removable cups.

For the voluptuous gals, the Diva Defined adjustable shapewear collection also has some great options to try. Both of the Top Notch Diva Slimming Camisole and Diva Express Long Leg Thigh Shaper have a hidden adjustable belt in the back panel so you can control the level of shaping you need. Depending on what you're looking for, you can adjust it for light to firm control.

annette_bodyshaper.png

I had tried shapewear a long time ago and it just wasn't comfy at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable feel of these pieces. At the very least, you'll look like you shrunk a size. Time to bring that skinny dress out of the closet!

Spring Accessories From Coach

I'm so glad that floral designs are in for Spring fashion. Coach has some adorable jewelry that feature shiny, glitzy flower-shaped pieces. These would go so well with springtime dresses and skirts.

I also like this sequined silk ponytail scarf. So very retro. You can wear it in your hair, around your neck, or tie it on your purse. I can see myself wearing one for an Easter brunch, or while riding a bike on a sunny day. Spring officially begins next weekend - I'm so excited!

The Frye Company S/S 2010

Not only are Frye shoes made to last, they have lots of classic and funky designs to brighten up your shoe collection for Spring. Here are some styles I've got my eye on:

You might have seen this cute Carson Pull On boot featured on last month's issue of O Magazine. The berry pink shade totally rocks. The navy shade is really nice too. The Hutch Pull On is a similar style, with a great turquoise blue color that's ideal for Spring.

If you're a classic kinda gal, these might tempt you. The Samantha Woven boot has an interesting weave on the shaft and a lovely stacked heel. The Jane Tall Cuff is quite versatile - you can wear it with the cuff up (over the knee) or down. If you wear it down, you can control the length of the cuff to suit your tastes. The topstitching is also done by hand. The sole is also cushioned so it's real comfy and sturdy. I love them; I feel like I can rule the world with these boots.

The Maya Vintage Stud Sling is really adorable too. With a peep-toe opening and tiny studs this one is girly and edgy at the same time. The teal color is so pretty.

For those who adore ballet flats, the Emma Honeycomb Stud is a great choice. The honeycomb studs make a nice accent to an otherwise plain design, and it also comes in bright yellow, green, black and various shades of brown.

IFB Links à la Mode - Fashion Flashback

Fashion Flashback

Edited by Debutante

As fashion weeks starting winding down, some are looking forward to the next trend in fashion. This week, I was thrilled to see so many bloggers focusing on the past -the history of fashion. An obvious passion of mine, vintage fashion has never been so influential. fête à fête reviews a gorgeous collection of vintage inspired jewelry. Fabulous Finds narrates a 1950s styled romp through Palm Springs. Oranges and Apples shares inspiring vintage Life magazine images. In politics, if you don't learn from history, you're destined to repeat it. In fashion, if you don't learn from history, you won't know you are repeating it!

Kenneth Cole New York S/S 2010

The official start of Spring is 2.5 weeks away (yes I'm counting down the days). To usher in my favorite season I'm been thinking about ways to spruce up my Spring wardrobe without killing the piggy bank.

This lovely stretch silk Cowl Neck Dress from Kenneth Cole adds a splash of color and sophistication. The floral patten is feminine yet sexy in a subtle way. It looks very chic with a trench coat.

KennethCole_2010spring.jpgkennethcole_2010.png

I don't usually wear navy, but this dress has an elegant tuxedo front that captured my attention. You can dress this versatile piece up or down.

If you haven't tried the 925 Technology, you need to get your tootsies into some of their shoes. The entire line of footwear now offers flexible rubber soles and Poron foam layers for shock absorption, so you can actually wear 4-5 inch heels and not worry about blisters and sore arches.

These sandals are a bit too wild for me but they are great party shoes. You can even dance comfortably in them all night - what a novelty.

Larkspur & Hawk At Barneys New YorK

I first fell in love with Larkspur & Hawk's gorgeous fine jewelry last year. Inspired by antique jewelry designs from the 18th and 19th centuries, designer Emily Satloff successfully reintroduced the 18th century craft of using colored foils to produce a dramatic brilliance.

Just look at the Grace Ring. The intricate 14k white gold ring is lined with 22k yellow gold, and the blue topaz contains leaf foil to bring out the extra sparkle. From the same collection, the 18k rose gold Grace Pendant contains a lovely rose quartz with a fuchsia foil.
larkspur_grace_ring.jpglarkspurHawk_gracependant.jpg

The oxidized silver Olivia Day Night Earrings would go so well with the green amethyst on the Sophia Ring. The little ring of diamonds add such an opulent touch. These colors are so rich - they make you feel like royalty, that's for sure.

If I had a gala to attend, these Jane Day Night Earrings (with blue topaz and magenta foil) would be my top choice. And how about these Celeste Earrings? I can't believe it's the turquoise foil that's making it look so radiant.

Vouelle S/S 2010 Shoe Collection

Looking at Vouelle's Spring/Summer 2010 shoe collection, it makes me feel as if summer is indeed here. These jetsetter heels are just what we need for a glamour-filled vacation along the Mediterranean.

The glitzy Penelope and Veruschka platform sandals are de rigueur for the luxe beach parties of Saint Tropez.
PENELOPE_vouelle_2010.jpgVERUSCHKA_vouelle2010.jpg
Penelope platform sandal in watermelon patent leather and Veruschka in sherbert suede.

The Jacqueline thong sandal is absolutely charming. It's so dainty and feminine - totally something I've come to expect from Vouelle. Working with Eric Charles Donatien of Maison Lemarié, the delicate organza fan is carefully handmade by the world's reigning plumassier. I wish I can see this in person, but from the image you can sense the detailed craftsmanship on this design.

For the first time ever, they've launched a playful gummy flat sandal. This is great for the chic minimalist who wants a dash of color.

Even the classic pumps are given a fun makeover. Check out the pink transparent plastic panels on the Gina satin pump. The white and salmon edging on the Bisset pump makes it stylish yet appropriate for the office.

Coye Nokes S/S 2010 Shoes

NYC-based shoe designer Coye Nokes has a lot of sophisticated designs for her Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The theme of these lovelies is inspired by an ‘urban riviera’ – the glamour of the French Riviera combined with a metropolitan edge.

Aren't the Grace wedges fun? Paired with a thin, flowy skirt and a floppy hat, the turquoise ones would be so fun to wear on a hot summer day.

CoyeNokes_SS10_GraceWedge.jpg

Architectural lines are brought to life by a Mediterranean color palette. I love the clean and polished look on the Joan Sandal. I especially like the sexy tapered heel - it makes the overall look more feminine. This sandal also comes in a black embossed python and a cognac calf leather.
CoyeNokes_SS10_JoanSandal.jpg

The Grace flats look pretty comfy; these also come in coral, gold embossed python and black patent. Now, if you want height, these Grace wedge sandals should do the trick. The curvy straps on this smokin' wedge makes it on my list for Spring.

Radley London Comes To America

Radley fans, take note. The quirky London handbag and accessories designer has expanded across the pond! They just launched their new US website and there's lots of cute purses, totes, and wallets to add to your spring fashion wish list. Their 2010 Spring/Summer collection is also now available online.
radley_alcester.jpg
Radley London's Alcester Medium Multi-Way Bag

The Alcester multi-way leather handbag has a pretty hand-cut corsage. The sculpted top and contrast stitching add a whimsical touch and there's tons of pockets for organizing all your stuff. A detachable strap is included if you decide to use it as a shoulder bag.

As an everyday bag, the Marsden A4 Tote is perfect for work and running errands. This is a classic bag that looks polished yet the chunky woven tab adds a bit of fun to the design.

I do love this red shade on the Ormskirk bag. This hobo style is a new design introduction for the Spring line. The daisy flower interior fabric lining is so feminine and cute!

Pocket Bag (medium size)

And let's not forget their signature Pocket Bag. This best-selling model is both practical and stylish at the same time (great for thin books and notepads). The flat design is really spacious inside and the cross-body strap has a zipped pocket for cell phones. You can wear this inside or outside your jacket and it's great for travel.

IFB Links à la Mode - The Love/Hate Relationship With Fashion

The Love/Hate Relationship With Fashion

Edited by Debutante Clothing

I'm always complaining about going out to fashion events by myself - I just don't have many friends that are into fashion. While some people think fashion is frivolous and contributes nothing to the world, others are curating museum exhibits featuring 20th century clothing. This week's links made me think about the love/hate camps in fashion. Starting with Grit and Glamour's post on bloggers getting backlash from fashion insiders, Houndstooth + Tortoiseshell's refreshingly funny admission of Tavi envy, or Fab Lab's hate of people who hate. But there is some love in sight - British Style Bloggers reminds us to look in the mirror and love ourselves. Enjoy!

Shu Uemura Egerie Spring 2010 Beauty

Shu Uemura is channeling the sexy glam rock icon this Spring. Inspired by the stage lighting from a Parisian discotheque, their new Egerie 2010 Mode Makeup collection helps you unleash your inner rock star with ease and sophistication. This line is for the modern spirit who wants to rebel yet remain elegant at the same time.
shu_egerie_spring2010.jpg

The Eye Shimmer Duo consists of two separate products. The first item is a liquid shimmer base. You start with a thin layer over the eyelid, then finish with a swath of sparkling powder. You can actually wear the liquid base by itself for an alternate look, but the finishing powder amps up the glam factor. It also has an interesting texture - it looks like a grainy powder but as you blend it into the lid it has a smooth feel that you expect from a solid cream-to-powder eyeshadow.

I liked the Glint Blue (brown base & silvery blue powder) and the Starry Violet (grey base & lavender-pink powder) shades. They're completely buildable, so you can use it for either day or night looks. This product will definitely draw everyone's attention to your eyes.
Shu_2010spring_eyeshadowduo_glintblue.jpg

As for the face, the creamy Satin Radiant Stick comes in two shades. The Highlight stick adds a very light pink-white shimmer to the forehead and upper cheekbone, while the Blush color brings a natural and healthy glow to the 'apple' of the cheek. It's totally user-friendly - you can't over apply since it's so light. You also don't have to worry about using it in natural light. It would be pretty hard to end up like a kewpie doll with this product.
Shu_satinradiant_blush.jpg

Katie White of The Ting Tings was smokin’ at the Grammys with the Egerie colors. The indie-rocker, whose band was nominated for the “Best New Artist”, rocked a sultry look created by celebrity makeup artist Amy Chance. Incorporating Katie's signature mod look, Amy worked her magic and shared her tips:

“I prepped Katie's skin with shu uemura’s red:juvenus revitalizing retexturing cream. I then used their new UV Under Base Fluid underneath her eyes and to her cheek bones. I used Armani Luminous Silk foundation to even out her skin tone, and then applied shu uemura’s Glow On blush in M Pink 31 on the apples of her cheeks. I highlighted the top of her cheek bones with Glow On in P Gold 94.

katie_white_tingtings.jpg
Credit: Getty Images

On Katie's eyes, I used shu uemura's new Eye Shimmer Duo in Glint Blue so her eyes would sparkle under the lights on the red carpet. We then used the Pressed Eye Shadow in Black 990 IR in her crease to deepen her eyes and give her a "mod", vintage look. I lined her top lids with Painting Liner in Black, and then lined her lower lid with the Drawing Pencil in ME Black. I accented her lashes with Individual Flare Lashes and Precise Volume Mascara.

Katie loves pink cheeks and lips, so to give her a final pop of color, and stay with her retro mod look, we finished her lips with Gloss Unlimited PK 344, a gorgeous bright pink. We finished her skin with Armani Fluid Sheer foundation to even out her skin tone and give it a bit of shimmer.”

Go Fashion Bloggers, Go!

Edited by Debutante Clothing

As more and more print magazines fold, bloggers seem to be growing in professionalism and media legitimacy. When bloggers such as Previously Owned and kaKofonie Of si(gh)lenS can get the scoop on international designers, you know the fashion playing field is being leveled. If bloggers can host great giveaways like Retro Chick’s, I wonder why the FTC needs to play big brother. Fashion Pulse Daily wants to know if you even care. It seems we are becoming the pretty, little websites that could. Yay bloggers!

Lia Lintern Winter 2010 Coat Collection

Lia Lintern has some of the most stylish and feminine coats I've seen in a long time. Ladies, if you want to stand out in a sea of drab gray and black wool coats this season, get one of these colorful darlings.
lintern_odessa.jpg
Odessa coat by Lia Lintern

The 2010 Winter collection is nothing short of divine. My favorite is the Sofia coat. I just love the corset back and the rouched neck collar. It can double as a winter dress. What a beauty.
sofia_lintern.jpglintern_Sofiaback.jpg

My other fave is the Odessa style. This cashmere wool blend coat features a pretty trapunto lattice snowflake design on the waist panel. I'd feel like a snow princess wearing this one.
Geneva_lialintern.jpgGenevaback_lintern.jpg
Geneva coat with countoured pin tuck design

These coats are not terribly budget friendly, BUT...like all high quality pieces, these gorgeous couture coats are designed and made to last for a long, long time. So think of it as a long-term investment. Plus, you are guaranteed 6 months' worth of tweaking if the fit is not perfect. It's like having a custom tailor in NYC!

For the budget fashionistas - the discontinued Yuliya coat is now offered at a 50% discount. There is a size 4 and 6 left. I'm so putting this on my holiday wish list...

The Dos and Don'ts of Style

Edited by Debutante Clothing

I just turned 35. It’s a landmark year not just chronologically, but style wise. I am now approaching that next age bracket in the How to Dress for Your Age features in mags. You know the ones. Vouelle Fall/Winter 2009/2010 Shoe Collection

I'm a devoted fan of Vouelle's ultra romantic shoes and I was terribly excited to see their new designs for the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 season. They're getting a bit more funky and whimsical, which is always a fun thing for all the holiday parties and soirées. Just look at this showstopper 4C stiletto! Aren't those patent leather pinwheels completely adorable? If you wear this shoe, you can be sure no one else will have it.

I so want these Dana R satin pumps. It may be in black, but the ruffled side decoration and sexy feathers will turn heads all evening. They just scream 'Paris chic' to me.

And who can resist these Emma pumps? These sassy satin and patent leather heels are totally great on their own, but you can also get a custom pinwheel added to your shoes for that extra special accent.

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up

Partnering with renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath, Dolce & Gabbana's The Make Up collection is too luxurious for words. With the glamorous Scarlett Johansson as the face of their ad campaign, she perfectly embodies the provocative spirit of this seductive line.

DolceGabbana_MakeUp_scarlettjohansson.jpg

The gold metal packaging makes you feel like a million bucks, but the contents within is even better. With a powdery rose scent, the Classic Cream Lipstick is inspired by 1950s beauty. The formula is light yet creamy, giving the right amount of moisture on the lips. I don't normally wear bold red shades, but the cool and pearly Chromed 230 was the perfect femme fatale look for me. I love it. This also lasts for quite a long time, and it's the first red lipstick that didn't bleed! That in itself is worth buying this lipstick.

DolceGabbana_makeupl.jpg

For the eyes, the Smooth Eye Colour Quad is your ticket to sophistication. All the colors are buildable, so they actually appear lighter on the lid. To get a smokier look all you have to do is add more layering. The silky texture feels great on the skin, and you can use a wet or dry brush to create various looks. The gorgeous Mediterraneo palette has warm shades of shimmery gold, forest green, matte brown, and deep silver while the Elegance palette contains shades of matte grey, steel grey, metallic green, and porcelain gold shimmer.

shadow_quad_mediterraneo.jpg

The Luminous Cheek Colour blush is one of the most decadent blush compacts I've seen. It comes with a sturdy mini brush that actually does a good job of depositing the right amount of color on the cheeks. The Rose shade is soft and delicate, giving a romantic wash of color that's also good for subtle contouring around the temples and chin.

Kenneth Cole 925 Technology Silver Edition Shoes

We all love 4-inch stilettos, but do we really want to walk a mile in them?

After years of research, Kenneth Cole has finally found the answer. Their new 925 Technology has a lot going for it in terms of providing comfort for the wearer. Each shoe has two layers of PORON foam (for shock absorption), a flexible rubber sole, and a flaxseed pillow for arch support.

kennethcole925silver_patent.jpgkennethcole_925_silverbelle.jpg

For the Fall season, they just launched a special Silver Edition of 925 Technology footwear, and they have several cute silhouettes for your basic needs. I tried on the black Silver Belle pump and I have to admit, they're pretty amazing. I hardly wear 4-inch heels for fear of permanently damaging my feet, but these were quite comfortable. Granted, it's never gonna feel as comfy as your old tennies, but these are the next best thing. You can wear these and not worry about seeing the podiatrist or chiropractor.

silverservice_kennethcole925.jpg

Each design also has a snazzy silver heel and will only be available on a limited basis, until they sell out. Going forward, they will apply the 925 Technology on all their women's shoe collections.

Edited by Jennine

Here we go with this week's round of stylish links. Editing this week was quite difficult as there were so many great links to choose from and everyone had some fantastic news on the fashion front. One of the great things about the internet is that we can all find out what the smaller labels are doing and thinking. This week we have great interviews from 39th and Broadway, Fabulous Finds Gal, Style Gourmand and A Typical Atypical. We also have a brilliant DIY project on what to do with your fabric scraps on Brick My Lane.

Hyde Organic Yoga Wear

I'm always a fan of organic clothing, so I was happy to discover Hyde's line of comfy yoga wear. While this line is for yoga and stretching, these pieces are also great for lounging around the house or for running errands on weekends.

hydespring_yoga1205.jpg

The Trieger tank has nice wide straps, so it won't slip while you're working out a complicated pose. The built-in bra keeps your girly parts securely in place as you bend down for those long stretches. This one also has a neat v-neck on the back, which looks quite stylin'. This top is made with 92% organic cotton, with 8% spandex.

trieger_hydeyoga.jpg

The Engineered Seam Pant has a flat waistband so you can roll them up or down as you see fit. I like the ankle length because other types of yoga pants tend to be too long and kinda get in the way. These also have cute seams that curve around your legs, making it a bit quirky. These pants are made with 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex.

hyde_engineerpant.jpg

Once you're done with your practice, don't forget to cover up. The Lux Zip Hoodie is the ideal lightweight outerwear. The soft and decadent Italian cashmere and merino wool blend completes your athletic look in a feminine way. The bell sleeves also make a nice flattering line for the arms.

hydeyoga_luxhoodie.jpg

Hyde carries a Men's Practice Pant, so if your S.O. goes to yoga with you, get him a pair. Apparently, Deepak Chopra is a fan of them.

Feminine Mystique

Edited by Debutante Clothing

The caliber of blog posts amongst the IFB members never ceases to amaze me. We run the gamut of style and fashion here. This week’s picks definitely appeal to the dueling femmes in me – the old fashioned gal and the powerful feminist. The debutante in me loved all the lovely posts about pearls including modern choices from Fashion Hippo, as well as the history of Mikimoto pearls by Fabulous Finds Gal. But nothing makes me clutch my pearls more than affordable Chanel looks by HiFashion. The feminist in me was thrilled to see smart posts about smart girls and smart fashion. Threadbared talks about academia and fashion, while 39th and Broadway explores the continuing inequality even within such a female driven industry like fashion. Enjoy!

Rollasole Emergency Ballet Flats

I love wearing stilettos like any other woman, but you have to admit those things can be darn painful. I might be able to stand in them for about an hour or two, but if you're going to be dancing in them all night, you better be prepared to bring some Rollasole flats as a back up. Your beat up soles will thank you later.

rollasole.jpg

Made with a really flexible sole, these cute emergency ballet flats will transform your sore toesies into happy feet. They come in a cute mini-shoebox, complete with a shoebag to store your high heels. Just unroll them and slip them on. Instead of constantly begging your friends to drag you home, you can now walk home comfortably. They come in gold, black, silver and pink, and they can be re-used too!

They're all the rage in the UK clubs right now, and they plan to sell them in the US soon. Goodbye pain, hello comfort!

Follow them on Twitter, and get them at www.rollasole.com. They ship all over the world.

Frye Boots - New Styles on Sale

Wow, I'm totally in love with my pair of Frye Rory Scrunchy Boots. Not only are these darn comfy, but they're also casually sexy and the leather is so buttery-soft. I'm a new fan of this brand! You can wear this new style year-round, with skirts or dresses. The heel isn't too high, so you won't be wobbling around. The circumference of the shaft isn't too skinny either, so for those who don't have toothpick legs, this one's for you.

I love how this company's been around since 1863. They really know what they're doing in terms of quality and comfort. These Bethany Strappy Softie boots are also real cute. The ruching at the toe is a great touch. Must add to my wish list.

Chie Mihara Fall Winter Shoe Preview

International shoe designer Chie Mihara has some very cute and feminine styles for her upcoming Fall/Winter 2009-2010 collection. I am definitely putting the the strong and sexy Misha heels on my wish list. I love the tan cotton contrast piping around the red suede. Gorgeous! These could almost be tango shoes. Sometimes I feel that thin stiletto heels will break off at the most unfortunate situations, but these heels will last a long time.

chiemihara_Misha.jpg

With her eclectic background (born in Brazil, of Japanese descent), Chie went around the world studying fashion and eventually landed in Spain. She's been designing her own coveted heels ever since. These shoes are comfy and classy, with a touch of modern whimsy of course.

Aren't these Pantoja shoes darling? It also comes in a silvery metallic fabric for those who want a little drama. Love the short heel.

shu uemura Tokyo Lash Bar 2009

shu uemura had their 26th Tokyo boutique anniversary party here in SF last night and luckily I got to join in on the fun. As we noshed on sushi and bopped to groovy tunes, we got to check out the new 2009 Tokyo Lash Bar collection. What fun and dramatic styles! I just want to wear all of them...

Freedom of Choice Summer 2009 Denim

I'm pretty excited about Freedom of Choice's new e-commerce site. I can now shop for my fave styles online!

What's even better is that I got to try the new Marie bootcut jean in Cobalt wash, and it is a fantastic fit. The slimming silhouette made it look like I shrunk a size without spending torturous days at the gym. Slipping into these 2% stretch jeans was totally comfy as well.

marie_FOC_boot.jpeg

The tulip-shaped stitching is so cute! Very feminine. I like the gradiated thread colors of this design.
marie_detail.jpeg

If you're going for the punk biker look, the Triumph skinny ankle length jean has an edgy zipper closure on the front pocket, knee patches, and knee darts. A total sexy fit channeling Joan Jett. Whiskering and distressing completes the "Speed" wash.

Fashion Forms Seamless Backless Strapless Bra

Now's the prime time for weddings, hot summer soirees, and other special events. As you pull out that sexy backless number to show off your figure, you might wonder how to deal with the tricky wardrobe situation. To bra or not to bra? Go bare or cover up?

If you want to cover up, Fashion Forms might have the answer. Their new Seamless Backless Strapless Bra will hold up for 4-6 hours if you want some type of support. Thanks to the silicone adhesive, you can wear it up to 25 times. This is a good option for those sporting risque halters or complicated frocks. Just peel off the protective backing, press on the bra to the skin, and you're ready to go.

seamlessStrapless.jpg

If you're not comfy with adhesive on your skin, another good choice might be the Infinite Options Bra. You can go nuts on all the strap combos you can pull off. You can even do one-shoulder looks. That one also has removable gel push up pads for those who want to enhance their bust line.

Lancome Beauty at NY Met Costume Gala

Check out the following makeup used by Lancome for the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Vogue's Costume Institute gala. The star-studded evening included hosts Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, and many luminous beauties from the fashion and film realm.

Celebrity makeup artist Leslie Lopez gave Anne Hathaway her ultra-dramatic look with smokey eyes as the focal point. Leslie swept Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Statuesque over the entire eyelid, then dabbed Color Design Eyeshadow in Daylight on the brow bone.
anne_hathaway.jpg

She finished with several coats of Lancôme L'Extreme Mascara in Black. Anne’s sheer, neutral colored lipstick--Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Couture Suede—was the finishing touch.

Supermodel Du Juan's look:
Lancôme makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor created Du Juan’s radiance by using Lancôme Artliner in Brown on the upper lash line. He then added a few coats of Lancôme Virtuôse Black Carat Mascara, giving her lashes a boost of volume and length.

Du%20Juan%20Met%20Ball%20Red%20Carpet%202.jpg

Andrew added just a touch of color to the eyes with Shu Uemura Eyeshadow in ME Brown 860 and ME Pink 100. He lined the lips with Lancôme Le Lipstique in Natural Mauve and topped it with La Laque Fever gloss in Pink Dimension, resulting in a pretty pink pout. A dusting of Star Bronzer in Bronze Dore gave Du Juan a sun-kissed complexion.

Margo Morrison New York Giveaway!

A celeb fave, Margo Morrison New York offers exquisite semi-precious and pearl jewelry that's handmade in NY. Designer and founder Margo believes jewelry should complement a woman’s natural beauty, not hide it. Resonating with women of all ages, these timeless pieces could fit anyone ages 18-90. She draws inspiration from her travels around the world, and finishes each piece with toggles that are cast from grass, twigs, and berries.

I love this four-strand Faceted Labradorite bracelet.

Blake Lively, Julianne Moore, Julia Roberts, and Gwyneth Paltrow are among a large group of fashionable stars that adore Margo's work. Japan’s top fashion mag Madame Figaro recently voted her as "one of the top 15 most exciting jewelry designers in the world." You can't get better props than that.

Giorgio Armani Summer Beauty

Giorgio Armani's new Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF 20 is a great alternative to thick TV or photography makeup (ideal for bridal pics!). The pump dispenser bottle is so well made. Just squirt out one nickel-sized dollop into your palm and spread across your face. The feel is light and smooth, and is an all-purpose formula. You get sunscreen and medium coverage for both special days or for everyday wear. This is a new water-based formula that lasts 14-hours.

armani_lasting_silk.jpg

The Crema Nera Eye Compact has the Obsidian Mineral Complex (key ingredients silicium, sodium, iron and potassium) that is crucial to cell regeneration. The concentrated cream absorbs so nicely into the delicate eye area. I didn't even have to dab at it too much before it disappeared into the skin. Fine lines are plumped up, and you get an instant radiant glow. I even use it on my lips to freshen up before meetings. It also has a built-in mirror that swings out for on-the-go touch ups! The matching Crema Nera Obsidian Mineral Restoring Serum is used for fighting deep wrinkles and severely dry skin. I like the clean scent - not too heavily perfumed. The length and depth of wrinkles are reduced while providing plenty of nourishing moisture.

crema_nera_eye.jpg

For that golden goddess look, the Sienna Minerals Bronzing Palette evokes vivid earth shades (deep reddish brown, golden flecks, and choco brown) of the sienna landscape. The ultra smooth Microfil texture completes this sunny tapestry of summer colors. This can be used as either an all-over bronzing blush or a sculpting highlighter.

Emilio Pucci Vivara Variazioni

For those who liked Emilio Pucci's original Vivara perfume, the new Vivara Variazioni collection should be a nice addition with some twists. An ode to the Vivara Island, the trio starts off with Sabbia 167, a powdery floral. Tangerine, lemon, Florentine iris, and sandalwood characterize this one. Acqua 330 resembles the coolness of water. Violet lead, jasmine, frangipani, and musk evoke a freshn voyage to the heart of the Mediterranean.

Emilio_Pucci_perfumes.jpg

I liked the Sole 149. An aromatic floral, it aims to recreate the elements of a sun-dappled island. The galbanum channels the original Vivara; this one has notes of tomato leaf, sambac-jasmine, vetiver, and patchouli. I like how vetiver and patchouli warms up the florals.

Lutz & Patmos Jane Birkin Collection

SF weather can be super cold and windy even in the Spring and Summer seasons, so imagine my delight to come upon the new Lutz & Patmos Spring 2009 collection. Teaming up with style icon and guest designer Jane Birkin, they created two ultra soft and flattering basic tops (made with 100% organic Scottish cashmere).

jane_birkin.jpg
Jane Birkin for Lutz & Patmos - wearing her V-Neck sweater and Tank.

Layer the Jane Birkin Tank with the V-Neck sweater for that casual, sexy look. The deep V-Neck is raw edged with a slouchy fit and 3/4 sleeves, while the tank scoopneck has a delicate hand crochet finish at the neckline and armhole. Both styles come in black, grey heather, and mocha heather. The company will also continue collaborating with Birkin for Fall 2009.

I also want the Organic Flounced Dress - so elegant! It looks deceptively simple but I know it will be very flattering for most body types. It's the perfect black dress with a green agenda.

DL1961 Premium Denim

DL1961 is now one of my favorite stretch denim companies. The first in using the incredible XFit Lycra technology, your jeans won't sag, stretch out, or get baggy. The fabric has 90% less pressure strain at stress points (knees, inseam, and back rise areas), meaning it won't get worn down as easily. The denim moves 360 degrees for maximum shape, style despite multiple wears.

DL1961_MILANO_1O93B.jpg
Milano 1093 Bootcut

Hugging your curves comfortably, these sexy jeans will also shape up the derriere and legs. The four-way stretch fabric in the Milano Bootcut made me look like I've lost a couple pounds, or gotten a mini butt lift. It's that flattering. The slimming effects are evident upon wearing it. So ladies, if you were too afraid to try the skinny or straight cut, this will give you hope. The men will notice the difference, I kid you not.

Tory1098_straight.jpg
Tory 1098 Straight Leg

The 27% lycra content makes this line super comfy, it's almost like wearing yoga pants. I don't recommend working out in these but it's thin and soft enough to lounge around in if you want. I might have to try it out on the dance floor for the ultimate stretch test. And, they use an enzyme wash (using a protein that softens the fabric) for that worn in look. I wonder if the traditional stone wash beats up the fabric too much in the process?

They will launch an organic line next month, so stay tuned. I'll update you on the new styles and washes.

I totally heart these guys. Keep up the fabulous work!

Larkspur & Hawk

It seems like my list of things to covet is never-ending. Now I have to add Larkspur & Hawk's Small Anne Day/Night Earrings to the list. Inspired by a Queen Anne earring design, these gorgeous earrings are made of faceted white topaz stones, then backed with leaf foil in a 14k gold setting. The drops are removable for a day look, and you can wear them for an evening look. (Also available in white topaz with indigo foil; citrine with fuchsia foil; white topaz with scarlet foil)

larkspur_hawk_green_earrings.jpganne_earrings2.jpg

And how fantastic is this antique Chrysolite Cluster Ring (circa 1780)?? Wow. I so am drooling over this. Très élégante. Chrysolite was mined in Brazil in the 18th century and the popular stones are still sought after in modern times. I dunno about you, but I'd take this over any regular diamond ring. I just love color that dazzles the eye.

larkspurhawk_chrysolite_ring.jpg

The Grace Earrings are another favorite of mine...simply stunning. You can get this in rose quartz with indigo foil or green amethyst and leaf foil.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! (Hmmm, perhaps that's why I subconsciously chose so many green colored jewelry to feature...)

The 11 gram container is one of the larger glosses I've seen, so it really is a whole lotta big plumpin' bang for your buck. The colors are highly pigmented so it will go a super long way.

lipstickqueen_bigbang.jpg

This is a very pretty line and it's available in eight shades. I loved Energy a lot (shimmery bright cherry red). Those who want a more dramatic lip will love Black Hole (deep wine). I only needed a couple teensy dabs as it was so pigmented. If you are into lighter shades, Time is a nice shimmery golden nude. Creation (rose) and Cosmos (ruby) look so darn pretty. And, if your color bleeds no matter what you do, I recommend the Invisible Liner. The self sharpening mechanical pencil is so convenient.

I also liked the Oxymoron Matte Gloss in Honest Politician. As a 2-in-1, it goes on nicely as a creme blush and lip gloss. The brown-pink matte tone was very neutral looking on my lips, and I needed only a tiny dab for my cheeks. Very high mileage in this product. The recessionista in me approves.

The stylish Ms. Poppy was darling enough to share her revered lipstick advice in a recent interview. Read on for her expert tips on choosing the best lip color for your skin tone, how to prevent bleeding, and more:

poppy_king.jpg

What's the easiest way to prevent lipstick bleeding? Dark colors, especially red, can be tricky to maintain throughout the day for busy career gals.

Poppy King: Wear a lip liner that matches the lip color exactly so that the line is seamless.....or, if you don't like lip liner you can use concealer around the line of the lip to stop bleeding. Lipstick Queen Invisible Liner stops lipstick bleeding without being seen.

What red shades do you recommend for women of color? With so many brands out there, it can be overwhelming.

PK: The bluer based/pinkish reds tend to look best on deep skins such as Latin and African American....the more orange reds look tend to look best on Asian women.

On top of the new Illusion Gloss, what else is coming up for the brand that we can look forward to?

PK: I am having a glossy year with new and unusual forms, textures and concepts in gloss. Expect the unexpected....even a gloss you can sharpen!

lipstick_queen_BigBang.jpg

Any tips on how to maintain soft lips (to maximize lipstick application)? Does exfoliation help?

PK: Exfoliation and Chapstick are the best to maintain lips without getting greasy. I use a spare toothbrush to exfoliate lips.

Red is your signature color. Do you have other favorite colors you wear on 'off days' or at home lounging around?

PK: Red is my boring look in that I wear it all the time.....I feel radical when I wear other shades. I love wearing Coral and Rose from my line in both the Saint and Sinner formulas. I love romantic shades for my time off red.

Who was your biggest influence on your personal style? Why?

PK: My godmother, who owns an amazing fashion boutique in Melbourne (where I am from). She introduced me to leopard print and I have pretty much worn it since I can remember. I love glamour.

Do you ever recommend the nude lip on certain women? Or just red all the way?

PK: I recommend colors I truly think would suit someone's style and personality. I believe the two are intrinsic to each other and I read someone's whole "aura" when I recommend lips shades. A long way of saying yes.....I recommend nude all the time when I think it suits someone's being.

And there you have it! Lots of fab beauty ideas and concepts to absorb. Big Bang Theory - Illusion Gloss is available at Barneys New York stores, Space NK, Henri Bendel and online at lipstickqueen.com.

FIEL shoes

I can't get enough of FIEL. These comfy and elegant flip flops are made for traipsing around white sandy beaches. So dainty and feminine, I can see myself getting a bunch of these for trips to Koh Samui or to Rio.

FIEL_palawan_gold.jpg
Palawan in gold

Made in Brazil, these flip flops come in three styles. The Palawan is adorned with a gorgeous leather flower (in black, gold, and pewter). You can adjust the flexible petals (with wire backing) to your liking. Each flip flop also contains a real lab-grown sapphire! This is taking eco-glam to the next level.

FIEL_purple_sula.jpg

I also love the Sula style. Bring out your inner Roman goddess with the long straps, or transform yourself into a ballerina. The memory foam insole will add more comfort as you spend all day playing outside.

Style Inspiration from Oscars Screen Sirens

The excitement may be over from this year's Oscars, but the styles from the lovely celebs will stay in our minds for a long time. Here's a few of our faves:

Vive La France! Marion Cotillard has always been a favorite of mine, even before she got internationally recognized for "La Vie En Rose." She totally nailed it with elegant drama without going over the top with Dior. Stunning, deceptively simple, yet classy - everything I adore about French couture. Oh, how I love her and her style.

    marion-cotillard.jpg

Here's what Stevie, of LA-Story.com had to say about Cotillard's ensemble: I find this outfit intriguing. I wasn't hot for it right off-- but then when I took a good look at the entire ensemble, what's not to like? . The deep color is so very flattering for her and the shape of the dress creates a very retro-glam 1950's glamour that's dramatic and works for her. Unlike others who went strapless, , she wore a necklace which creates interest and leads the eye to Cotillard's face. Love the ring she has on -- it's stunning!

Penelope Cruz was totally channeling Audrey Helpburn in this Balmain vintage outfit. It was sweetly romantic and charming without overdoing it like Sarah Jessica Parker. Love it. White is not my favorite color (and some though it was too princess bride) but she pulled it off nicely a la Roman Holiday.
    penelope-cruz.jpg

Stevie: I like the essence of the dress. It's much like the black one she wore at the BAFTAS and while it works a la Audrey Hepburn, the lack of color just drains the life out of her. Make this red, deep rose, burgundy, deep forest green, any range of blue hues and this would be a smashing dress. Penelope, I think you got just a bit tired towards the end. The bag doesn't work with the dress. If you are going to pull off that dress, then carry a vintage style bag too.

Nicole Kidman had the classic, ethereal, 'very Nicole' style in L'Wren Scott. She looked very retro-glam in this one, and I approve heartily. It's like a beautiful ice goddess came down upon earth to bestow her beauty for us to enjoy...

    nicole-kidman-2009.jpg

Here's Stevie's take: Gorgeous dress with unique detailing at the bodice. It's really eye-catching. Would have loved to have seen it created in a different, richer color as this almost matches Kidman's skin tone. Her hairstyle is amazing and opens up her neckline which made it an ideal opportunity to wear a fabulous-- yet delicate-- necklace to work with those earrings and either a ring or a couple of sleek thin bangle bracelets.

Taraji P. Henson was also sporting the sweet and innocent feel with her choice of Roberto Cavalli. I like the simple chic in this one. Good move overall, even if it's a bit too bridal looking.
    taraji-p-henson.jpg

Gorgeous dress on Taraji. I think she was truly one of the best dressed with an edgy design that flattered her body and made her truly a star on the red carpet. The color was perfect with her skintone!
    Stevie, LA-Story.com

Leslie Mann had an incredible hot-mama Pamela Roland gown on. Smokin' diva! I hope to be this hottie hot when I get to her age...it draped on her body so nicely without baring too much flesh.
    leslie-mann.jpg

Stevie says: Pamela Roland should be so happy to have this dress on Leslie Mann and vice versa. It's stunning on Mann because the design skims her body perfectly. The dress is killer, smokin', sexy-hot and without showing off a lot of skin either. No mean feat that.

I wish everyone had made the right choices. I really love Beyonce, but man, this House of Deréon dress made
her look like a cartoon character. I dig her lovely curves but this matronly design exaggerated the hips which is not what we want. The severe bustline is not flattering to her voluptuous figure.
    beyonce.jpg

Stevie's take: Typically Beyonce "wows" you on the red carpet, but this dress makes a statement in all the wrong ways: too big on the hips, the retro-hemline, the overwhelming pattern, the top makes her look like a Barbie doll or Jessica Rabbit (my apologies to Jessica Rabbit for the comparison). This dress should teach Beyonce that you should not dump the kitchen sink of design elements into one dress. Plus what's with the lack of jewelry?

    Vouelle

I'm madly in love with Vouelle, the new French luxury shoe label. The brand recently launched their bridal collection last Fall in Paris (too lovely for words), and the Spring 2009 women's cocktail collection will take the fashion world by storm. Adorned with exotic feathers, Swarovski crystals, and silk satin, these sexy and elegant shoes make me want to hop on the next plane to Paris and raid their showroom. One look at the flirty and feminine Andy shoe (silk satin with handmade satin flower) and you'll know what I mean.

    vouelle_Andy.jpg
    Vouelle's Andy cocktail sandal

Co-founder Melissa Regan de Vogele was having a tough time finding her dream bridal slippers, so she tapped her friend and Creative Director Michelle Boor to come up with some ideas. Soon enough, Vouelle was born. It also helped that Boor earned her design chops from Guy Laroche and Theory.

    Grace_Black.jpg
Grace pump in handmade black silk lace

I also love the darling Carla with a sculptural black organza loop and beige feathers (named after Carla Bruni perhaps?). So very vintage inspired, so very sexy...this is so perfect for any vintage Dior suit or YSL dress.
    vouelle_Carla.jpg
    Carla sandal

The seductive Dana is very come-hither with its feathers fanning out the pump’s side seam. The Eva, however, is the showstopper must-have for any femme fatale's collection.

If you're in Paris, lucky you. The bridal collection can be found at Galleries Lafayette and Printemps. For those who live outside France, not to worry. You can order the Spring 2009 Cocktail Collection directly with their Paris showroom (they do ship and accept all major credit cards). They plan to retail their Fall 2009 collection in the U.S. soon, so stay tuned!

    indiDenim Intellifit (update)

My custom indiDenim jeans have finally arrived! I must say, the Intellifit scanning did a good job at delivering a custom fit. I got the SoMa bootcut design with Orchid (camel) embroidery style on the back pockets, which were so cute.

You can still get 30% off if you do the Intellifit in person at their Emeryville office. The bf also loves the fitting on his pair, and he plans to buy another style soon.

    (Women's SoMa jeans)

I do wish there was an option to select the height of the hem, since not all women wear high heels. I alternate between flats and heels a lot so it'd be nice to have the jeans 1-2 inches shorter to accommodate all the heel heights.

They now have 2% stretch fabrics to choose from. For the curvier ladies, they now have a plus fit (Ashbury). More options for more body types! Yay...

    IVEE

After munching on so much chocolate, I am in dire need of a few workouts. Since I can't afford to hire a drill sargent to bark at me during the wee hours of dawn, getting geared up in IVEE workout clothes will be the next best thing to motivate me on my self-imposed exercise regimen.

    IVEE_Sophia_Vivian.jpg

The new online site now lets you pick from the cute collection that's usually sold at the likes of Sports Club/LA. Mix and match according to your exercise alter ego. Yoga divas can try the Trinity Bamboo Terry Hoodie, a luxuriously soft outerwear that's so comfy you wanna bum around all day in it. The sustainable bamboo material also anti-microbial, for those who hate to deal with sweat and germies.

The Ava top is adorable and a flattering fit for most body types. I liked the Vivian pants a lot - it's quite slimming for those who think they need the thinning effect.

    shu uemura Mirage spring 2009

shu uemura continues to shine with their Spring 2009 Mirage collection. The soft, playful, and light colors create an optical illusion that resemble a beautiful mirage. Using light and shadow, the gentle shades are made to enhance each woman's special features.
    shu_uemura_spring09_mirage.jpg

The sophisticated eye shadow palettes are mellow and delicate. It looks bright, but once you finish applying the colors your eyelids end up glowing. I like the utopia a lot. It makes me feel like a female subject in a Monet painting.
    shu_uemura_09_fantasia.jpg

Jason Hoffman, shu uemura Principal Makeup Artist, suggests the following for the Fantasia palette:

“You can absolutely mix any combination of the three colors and layer on the lid. My favorite look for the Fantasia palette is to mix the pink and the lavender on the lid with a shu uemura Kolinsky Hair Brush, which deposits more color, then softly blend the grey into the crease. For a little more definition to the eye, add Drawing Pencil in 14 ME Light Blue, and Liquid Eyeliner in Black.”
    shu_09spring_utopia.jpg

    shu_09_mirage_14MELightBlue.jpg

The cheek palettes are superb. The cream and powder duos are meant to be more like subtle and buildable highlighters, not like a traditional blush. The orange phase gives a more defined, sculpted look, while misty glow gives a dewy luminosity to the face.
    shuuemura_09spring_orangephase.jpg

For the misty glow, Hoffman explains that “Both colors in the Misty Glow palette are for highlighting. The cream color, which gives a dewy glow, is great for cheeks and lips. The lighter pink powder is a great powder highlighter for eyes and cheeks. If you wanted to use both, I would layer the two, and apply the cream first and then set the cream with the powder for longer wear.”
    shuuemura_spring09_mistyglow.jpg

Also love the lip duo tint & gloss. Perfectly soft for the springtime romantic look, this gives a fresh wash of berry red and a hint of gloss. Use alone, with the gloss, or with any lipstick.

    Fascination with Fascinators

Lately I've been on a huge fascinator hat kick. Already a fan of vintage clothing, I longed for the days when I could dress up in glam outfits like my grandmother did when she was swinging out on the dance floor. When I saw fascinators being in vogue again, I've been on a mad mission to collect these beautiful pieces.

This Milly fascinator from HairFascinators.com is so cool! I can't carry this color off, but maybe one in red...or just classic black.
    milly_fascinator.jpg

This Nicole fascinator from the Hems and Bustles shop on Etsy is great for brides, but I'm tempted to get it for myself! It will be so cute for tango dancing. You can use it with a headband or birdcage veil.

Giorgio Armani Spring 09 Pink Light

Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 Pink Light collection has a limited edition eye shadow palette that will create luminous and fresh eyes. Embossed with Mr. Armani’s signature, the palette includes a shimmering silver, light lilac, light rose, and light beige for that rosy look.

    armani_Spring_2009.jpg

The new Light Master Make-up Primer does wonders for highlighting the skin. Optical effects are created from Micro-fil™ pearl, which changes skin tone (depending on light reflection). This will illuminate and shape cheekbones and contours of the face while toning down uneven zones. It's very light (like their face fabrics) and I sure glowed like a radiant flower after a light application. You don't need a lot at all, just a light pump will do. If you already have great skin, you might not need foundation.

    armani_pink_eyeshadow.jpg

The collection also includes a Pink Light Powder, a rose shimmering loose powder for a soft pink veil of color. Two new compacts of the Blending Blush Duo (n°3 and n°4) come in coral/mocha or rosewood/raspberry. They've also introduced the new Sheer and Shine lipstick in the Shine 47 – nude taupe, Shine 49 - fig, and Sheer 33, a rose coral.

    NARS Spring 2009

Inspired by 1970’s pastels, pinks, and berry shades, NARS has a bold eyeshadow for their Spring '09 collection. The Grenadines shade, a matte garnet, is worn by Guinevere van Seenus for their ad campaign.

    NARS_Spring_2009.jpg

To get her look: NARS makeup artist Ayako layered Hungry Heart Blush Duo, swept across the apple of cheeks, over the Multiple in Orgasm, and used a combination of shadows for the eye— Single Eyeshadow in Grenadines, over the entire lid and up to the inner corner of the brow then smudged under the lower lash line, and Single Eyeshadow in Egea in the crease. Finally she filled in her pout with Lipstick in Shrinagar, and dabbed some Lip Gloss in Sweet Revenge to the middle of the lip for added shine.

    NARS_spring09.jpg

They've also launched two new must-haves - the Blush Duo and Duo Concealer. The blush compact has a highlighting and one sculpting shade (Hungry Heart - Iridescent gold ivory & pink sand). The crease-resistant concealer duo comes in Custard/Ginger (for light to medium complexions) and Praline/Toffee (for medium to dark).

Here's a face chart by lead artist Ayako for the new colors:

    Face:
    • Apply NARS Firming Foundation to entire face
    • With NARS Flat Concealer Brush apply NARS Concealer to cover any imperfections
    • Apply the peachy pink Orgasm side of NARS Multiple Duo in Orgasm/South Beach to apple of cheek and blend into foundation with fingers
    • Apply NARS Loose Powder with NARS Loose Powder Brush to set foundation
    • Over The Multiple Duo, blend both sides of NARS Blush Duo in Hungry Heart and sweep across apple of cheek

    NARS_facecharts_spr09.jpg

    Eyes:
    • Apply NARS The Multiple Duo in Orgasm/South Beach (peachy pink Orgasm side) over entire eyelid
    • Apply NARS Single Eyeshadow in Grenadines with NARS Large Domed Eye Brush over entire lid, blending up to inner corner of brow, and under lower lash line
    • Smudge Grenadines with NARS Smudge Brush in between lashes to deepen color
    • With NARS Angled Eye Shader, apply NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Egea (smoky lilac side) into crease
    • Coat top and bottom lashes with NARS Mascara in Black Orchid

    Lips:
    • Apply NARS Lipliner Pencil in Amazon
    • Fill entire lip with NARS Lipstick in Shrinagar
    • Add NARS Lip Gloss in Sweet Revenge to middle of lip for subtle shine

    Freedom of Choice Spring 2009

Here's an insider peek at the Spring/Summer '09 Freedom of Choice denim collection. The jeans are bright and funky with distressed markings and a colorful palette. Here are some styles to look for:

The Precious wide leg style can be either casual or classy, depending on how you pull it off. Throw on a thin tank for a coffee rendez-vous, or a slinky sequin number for a nighttime look.
    FOC_jeans.jpg
Precious Wide Leg (with Afterglow treatment)

The Babeth and Spirit skinnies are too adventurous for me, but I'm sure that won't stop you fashion slaves from squeezing into these...
    sprit_skinny.jpg
    Spirit skinny leg in Bazooka

The organic Earth Friendly bootcut in Cascade wash is very comfy with 2% lycra. It's now my everyday jean. I wear it all the time and got quite a few compliments. The boys noticed it too!
    freedom_of_choice_organic_bootcut.jpg

We're also very lucky to have FOC founder Nathan Menashe chat with us in this mini fashion interview:

    1. What are your hot denim style predictions for S/S 2009?
Nathan: Bold treatments such as dramatic colors, distressing, and prints. In terms of fit, flared legs make a comeback and the boyfriend jean are to set the tone for a more laid back look. Skinny jeans will still be a wardrobe staple.

    2. Any plans to expand your organic jean collection?
NM: We are going to continue producing organic styles since the demand has been growing each season. The variety of organic styles is going to be broader within the line.

    spring09%20FOC.jpg
    Sandra flare in Lavish treatment

    3. Any new fabric technology you're working on?
NM: We're always working on new treatments and fabric content. Our essential goal is to treat our fabrics and bring it to its softest point where it's the most comfortable pair of jeans a woman has tried on.

    4. Your favorite jean style out of your entire line?
NM: We love all our styles - each jean has a different personality that can be worn in different occasions. We put love into each one.

    121-087%20babeth_skinny_prince.jpg
Babeth skinny jeans in Prince wash

    5. As women come in so many shapes and sizes, what should we look for to guarantee a good fitting jean? How does one look for the right cut?
NM: A great slimming bootcut like our Earth Friendly jean guarantees a flattering fit to every body type. Its fit is universal so it suits the widest range of shapes. The bootcut has a fine balance in its design so that it can be worn with any outfit, from high heels to sneakers.

And there you have it! Wise words from the denim master himself. Check out his craft at: www.freedomofchoicejeans.com

    Lia Lintern

Lia Lintern has the most darling custom outerwear. A former aerospace engineer, designer Julia Lintern applies her structural sensibility to her luxurious coats. Instead of sizes S, M, and L, you can enter your bust, waist, and hip measurements for the most flattering fit.

I just LOVE the Yuliya coat. It's so retro in design theory, but modern in its cut. This cashmere corset coat is so feminine in the silhouette, but has a fresh twist in the stretch leather sleeves and side belt closure. It's also lined in silk for that extra divine accent.

It seems like everyone is super crazy for platinum these days. From skin care (La Prairie Cellular Cream Platinum Rare anyone?) to jewelry, this precious metal has been the favorite of royal dignitaries and celebs alike.

Thirty times more rare than gold, the metal won't tarnish. With its mega lasting power (95% pure), it's no wonder it's making a huge comeback with blushing brides everywhere.

    indiDenim Intellifit Design Studio

If you're still having trouble finding the perfect pair of jeans, indiDenim might solve your denim woes. They're looking for SF Bay Area folks to participate in their beta Intellifit Design Studio program. Simply head on over to their Emeryville office to get fitted for a pair of jeans via their Intellifit Virtual Fitting Room.
    womens_soma_indidenim_jeans.jpeg
    (Women's SoMa Jeans)

The Virtual Fitting Room does a full body scan (using harmless radio waves) to get your exact measurements. It's pretty easy - you just step into their booth fully clothed, and it takes only a few minutes to perform the entire scan.

As a bonus, being part of this beta program will get you a 30% discount. You'll also get one-on-one fitting advice from an indiDenim's fit consultant. Talk about über customer service! I just got fitted and ordered my first pair, so I'm looking forward to wearing it in 4 weeks.

    Fierce Couture Holiday 2008

I am always fascinated and in love with Fierce Couture's magic in latex fashion. Designer Tressa Williams elevates fetish wear to a very elegant level. I first saw her collection at the 2004 SF Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion show. Been a fan ever since.

    Kelly Bergin

Ooh, I'm salivating over the black lace skirt by Kelly Bergin. The next best thing after the Prada Fall Winter 2008-2009 lace collection. At over $300 it's rather un peu cher, but that won't stop the fashion addicts, will it?
